The Mainstream Food Pyramid Causes Obesity And Diabetes
Mar 30, 2024Where oh where do I begin?! Oh, let me count the ways!! Seriously!
That might sound a little sarcastic, but when it comes to the mainstream food pyramid, I get so frustrated that I literally don't know where to begin.
This food pyramid is literally a health disaster, and it causes SO MANY health issues!!
The whole idea that you should minimize good animal proteins, run from good saturated fats, and maximize carbs and starches is insanity to me! That is literally a recipe for diabetes!!
Mainstream Health: "Let's stuff you up with a bunch of carbs and starches and let's limit your proteins."
Honestly, that is the worst advice that you can be given! These carbs and starches raise your blood glucose level, they actually cause snacking issues, they are not very satiating, and putting a priority on them over time will cause major health issues as well as weight issues!
The food pyramid is nothing more than a propaganda lie to hook you into a system that is literally designed to keep you sick, stuck, overweight, and addicted to their foods.
And let's be honest, a lot of the foods that they market to you as "healthy" are chock-full of additives, sugar, food dyes, GMOs, bioengineered ingredients, additives that cause unhealthy food addictions, and are made to keep you coming back for more. I will admit, a lot of those items do taste good. But they were designed to taste good, to cause addiction, and to keep you coming back for more. The majority of it is not food at all!!
Just look at how they market to you on the front of the box or package! Then look at the back of all the ingredients and you tell me if that is healthy and if it is actually food!
Getting back to the food pyramid though... here is something else to think about: If you minimize your protein intake, would that make you stronger or would that make you weaker? Would it be easier for you to maintain/keep muscle, or would it be easier to lose it?
It's just something to think about.
Since the food pyramid became mainstream, obesity rates have seen a rise of 100% to 200% or higher. This indicates that around the world, obesity has doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled when compared to levels before the food pyramid was widely adopted.
What does that tell you? It didn't make people healthier; it did the opposite, in fact!
We should be placing a high priority on proteins (I personally recommend animal proteins) and a low priority on carbs.
No, you don't need to cut carbs out completely, but you certainly don't need them with every meal either.
There is NO essential carb.
The traditional food pyramid quietly encouraged consumption of processed foods marketed as "nutritious" or low-fat, which often include artificial ingredients, seed oils, GMOs, bioengineered ingredients, and unhealthy fats that cause metabolic damage, weight gain, and unhealthy food addictions!
Again, it subtly and secretly locked people into a corrupt money-making system that only has an interest in profit and cares nothing for the health and well-being of others.
Now I know that that might be a very bold statement. But it's the truth, and if you know anything about me, my brand, and what I stand for, it's the truth.
The demonization of fats in favor of high carbs and processed crap has resulted in widespread metabolic problems, including insulin resistance and obesity just to name a couple from a long list. Essential fats, such as those found in grass-fed beef and wild-caught fish, have an important role in brain health, hormone control, and satisfaction. They help to stabilize blood sugar levels and promote satiety, which can lessen the desire to overeat or indulge in processed foods.
By focusing on nutritionally dense foods such as pasture-raised meats, eggs, and other whole foods, we will begin to break the cycle of chronic illnesses and weight gain caused by incorrect nutritional advice. It's about providing our bodies with nourishment that they require to thrive rather than simply to survive.
I think the food pyramid should look something like this below:
Now that's more like it! That looks a heck of a lot more appetizing, satiating, and nourishing!
This is the basics of what it should look like. Even if you are reading this and you are a vegetarian. The underlined principles are still the same. Place a higher priority on proteins and a lower priority on carbs. It's that simple. Get as far away from packaged, boxed, ultra-processed, frozen dinners, etc. as you can!
I promise that you will feel better, have more energy, reach your weight goals easier, have less hunger issues, and feel fuller longer.

5. Nutrient Density: Many protein rich foods, animal based sources are packed with nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are crucial for overall health and well being.
